Last Friday was very special. It was the day when we publicly showed our design ideas and furniture prototypes. We've been working on them for the last three months and we wanted to get feedback on our work. We invited everyone who answered our survey, friends and family.
The Pop Up event was a very important step in our process of designing furniture around people who will use them. We handed out sticky notes and sharpies to visitors and they used them to comment on the prototypes.
We discovered that people weren't able to see past the colours and inexpensive materials we used to build the prototypes. For us it's easy to imagine them in walnut or oak finishes but not for others.
The next step for us is improving our prototypes according the feedback we got. At the same time we are preparing for the launch of a Kickstarter campaign in April. Well be raising funds to start production of all three pieces we have designed - the leaning shelf Lento, the multifunctional chair Roundabout and the coat hanger Capilano.
The event wouldn't be possible without Sabrina who hosted us at her amazing L'Atelier coworking space.
Attie and Will from Groundswell coffee roasters made the evening with their cold brewed coffee cocktails.
A big thank you to everyone who came to the event!
