Our Story

At Studio Corelam, our mission is based on the challenges of modern day living and finding solutions that feel like they’ve always been there. Our designs are simple, honest, and beautiful.

We are a Vancouver, B.C.-based company that is committed to supporting our local community through our production, distribution, and collective mentality.

We prioritize sustainability and work with environmentally friendly materials, production methods and processes that reduce waste and our carbon footprint. It is our goal to minimize our environmental impact through intelligent design and integrated sustainability.

We do more with less.

Designing Better Solutions

We believe that design should be used to improve our everyday lives and living environment. This is why our mission is set on understanding modern day living challenges and finding solutions that feel like they’ve always been there -intuitive, simple and beautiful.

Studio Corelam is constantly working in close connection with the local community here in Vancouver, BC. We believe in keeping production local and in collaborating with local artisans and manufacturers.

Our material, Corelam™, is a lightweight, corrugated plywood whose production consumes little material and energy. It is fabricated in Vancouver in our custom-designed hydraulic press that delivers 400 tonnes of pressure.

The result is a lightweight, structurally sound, multi-faceted material. It is the result of research and development by Christian Blyt, Vancouver designer and professor of industrial design at Emily Carr University of Art & Design, during his studies at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland.
